An SSL/TLS certificate encrypts traffic to and from your website. With an SSL/TLS certificate installed your website will display as secure in web browsers and the 'padlock' icon will be displayed in the URL bar to show this security.
Without such a certificate people browsing to your site may see an insecure website warning before they can access, potentially turning them off visiting the site.
Free SSL/TLS certificate are available, i.e. LetsEncrypt, which is suitable in some but not all cases. With a paid certificate the vendor provides a warrantee to reimburse your customers should they be fraudulently charged as a result of broken encryption.
If you need a certificate on your domain, submit a support request with the following info:
- Domain (e.g. www.google.com)
- Country Name (e.g. GB)
- County (e.g. North Yorkshire)
- City (e.g. York)
- Organisation Name (e.g. HA)
- Organisation Unit (if applicable)
Our default method involves sending an authorisation email to admin@<your domain>.co.uk, so please make sure you or your client have access to this email account.
If you're using our Web App Firewall or DNS services, we can use internal methods to remove this stage and complete installation without additional input from you or your clients.
For more information, including SSL/TLS types and pricing, please see our website or get in touch with our support team.
